Video - It’s the talk of the year.

With 66% of consumers actively searching for videos about a particular brand, it’s no wonder that Video Marketing will be on the priority list for many this year.

We’ve made top-tier videos for Microsoft, Panasonic, CanO Water, and hundreds of others. But everybody has to start somewhere! In this week’s newsletter, we’re going to give you our best advice on how to get started with video!

This week, we’re running a kick-ass competition where two lucky winners will win a one-hour video strategy call with Jack, our Founder, deep-diving into how to make your videos better and increase their success.

All you have to do to enter is leave feedback on our newsletter above, fill in some feedback, and two lucky winners will be contacted shortly to book a date in the diary - it’s that simple 📩

What’s Happened This Week?

Here’s a quick breakdown of what we’ve been working on this week ⤵

  • We’ve been working with the CanO Water team on a series of new e-commerce content that will launch in April 2023. We can’t show anything at this stage, as it’s all very hush-hush!

  • George has been working on a very exciting project for a global technology company. Again, we can’t reveal much yet - but keep your eyes peeled.

  • Anna successfully passed her probation with flying colours, and it’s great to have her as a permanent member of the V21 team!

  • Jack released the dates for his founder-only event called The Founders Chat. Check it out for yourself here, and join three great business owners at 4PM next Thursday.

  • Our production team have been getting set for an exciting shoot with our new client, Sporttape, next week. We’ll be creating 14 short-form ads for Amazon!

Getting Started With Video 🎥

Are you ready to take on the exciting world of video content creation, but find yourself held back by fears of not being perfect or not having the right equipment? Well, it's time to let go of those fears and dive right in!

Sure, it can be scary to get in front of the camera, but think about the last time you watched a video. Did you really care about the person's voice or appearance? Probably not, and the same goes for when people watch your videos. Stop worrying about being perfect and start focusing on being yourself.

Here’s our best advice for starting the wild ride of creating video content ⚡️

  1. Preparation: Think of an idea, write a general script, fact-check what you want to say, and don’t overthink it. Making a ‘perfect’ video is never going to happen, and being done is better than perfect.

  2. Presentation: Be a heightened version of your true self. Yes, it’s important to present yourself in the best way possible, but if this is done badly this can feel forced and unnatural. Show your personality, and steer away from tucking your quirks under the rug - people love authenticity. It makes you a much more likeable and relatable person.

  3. Equipment Doesn’t Matter: Not quite what you thought a professional video marketing agency would say? Well, it’s true. Fancy cameras, lights, mics and geeky purchases do make your videos look better, but the art of creating an engaging, compelling video is not down to what you’re using. A great video comes from telling a story, capturing the imagination, and engaging a viewer in a way that they have to keep watching.

  4. Don’t Go Overkill: If you’re creating a video for TikTok, use your phone. Again, there’s no need for fancy cameras. Using the excuse of “This needs to look perfect” is only stopping you from creating better and better videos with the lessons you’ll learn through experience, practice, and time.

  5. Outsource The Editing: The editing is what takes real understanding and chemistry to get right. If you’re time is limited, sending your footage to a professional editor will be a huge weight off your shoulders, as this is a very time-intensive and technical part of the process. This leaves you to be the creative thinker and visionary, and not the person slaving away into the early hours of the morning trying to figure out why your editing software looks different to the YouTube tutorial you’ve spent hours trying to understand.

Simply put, get prepared, do your research, stop focusing on the equipment, shoot for the platform you’re posting to, and outsource the labour-intensive parts of the process. Done!🎉

Want Professional Guidance?

Back in 2022, we noticed the huge demand for learning how to create professional, premium-feeling videos.

At the time, every course we found was too focused on cameras, and the technical aspects of videography. So, we set out to create a 25+ episode course that focused more on how to plan, film, edit and post high-end videos, with little to no experience. We called it Converted.

With 10 episodes currently live, it’s still in the early days. With 15+ more episodes coming over the next few weeks, we’re offering a 20% discount to everybody that signs up before the full course is available as a thank-you to those that support our newsletter, and our new course.

Just use the code ‘GLITCHED20’ at checkout.

With that said, see you in next week’s newsletter!
