How To Make Your Marketing Stand Out: The Power Of Personalisation 👀

4 Minute Read.

New format this week, I hope you enjoy âšĄïž

You may have seen the content landscape online recently. The consistent churn and burn of desperate-for-business sales content that doesn’t add value to the end consumer. At least, that’s what I’ve seen.

There’s a lack of personalisation, an increasing amount of paraphrasing recycled from marketer to marketer, and new, inspiring content is hard to come by.

So, here’s my advice on how you make your content more successful; and it’s simpler than you’d think.

Make Your Marketing Stand Out đŸ‘‹đŸ»

Personalisation can be tricky to get right, especially when everybody under the sun is trying to do the same; but these four tips should get you well on your way!

1) Be Different.

Easier said than done, I agree. However, a quick way to implement difference within your content is by not looking at what your competitors, or creators in your space, are doing. We are inspired by others, and often what we consume rubs off on what we create ourselves. Unfollow your competitors, and get rid of their content on your feed so you’re consistently focusing on not what others are doing, but on what you feel is the right approach to take.

2) Talk About Something New.

Trends could increase your virality and get you new followers, but these metrics are tactics to achieve goals, and not the goals themselves. Whilst 99.9% of people talk about the new hot topic, news, and noteworthy, do the opposite. In the mad rush to jump on a trend, be the person offering new value, thoughts, and inspiration to your audience.

This is backed up by MrBeast himself (If you don’t know him, can you even call yourself a content marketer?). Check out this podcast where he talks about why content flops, and how he constantly innovates on his channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8VcUnz3nVc&t=1832s&ab_channel=ColinandSamir

3) Go Against The Grain.

Some of the greatest marketing has come from taking an expected concept and flipping it upside down. From the generic recruitment video to crowdfunding campaigns, they all follow the same routine, and I bet that you can picture them in your mind as you’re reading this. Taking a predictable format, and adding a new element that goes against the traditional, is a powerful way to stand out.

4) Make It Fun.

When it comes to promoting your products or services, grabbing the attention and keeping the engagement of a viewer is challenging to say the least. Nobody wants to sit through a 2-3 minute video that’s heavily focused on stats and facts. Instead, make your marketing interesting, memorable, and fun to watch. Not only does this make you more relatable as a brand, but it creates a deeper emotional connection with your consumer.

My Thoughts 💬

With the demand for content increasing, it’s getting tougher to stand out online. Consumer attention is harder to retain, but I feel this is down to a lack of innovative, fresh marketing on our feeds, and the ever-increasing amount of generic, bland, and done-before content.

Whilst the majority of businesses are recycling old ideas, and becoming heavily inspired by their competitors marketing, thus introducing similar elements into their own, it’s essential that you create and post content you feel is legendary.

Don’t say what’s already been said, and don’t do what’s already been done. Think bigger and bolder than everybody else, and you’ll be a brand that sticks in the minds of the masses.

Until then, see you in next week’s newsletter!
