How To Skyrocket Your Video Engagement In 8 Steps 🚀

Read Time: 4 Minutes

To make your voice heard and your message stand out, you need to grab the attention of your audience. Of course, one of the most effective ways to do that is through video.

71% of B2B marketers are now making videos, which means there’s A LOT of competition, and it’s online increasing. Whilst they are great, simply posting videos isn't enough anymore.

To truly maximise your impact with video, you need to engage your viewers.

Here’s how you do exactly that.

Over the last five years, I’ve had the opportunity to make videos in all shapes and sizes. Some of which have reached millions of views online (Here’s a snapshot from our latest travel client!).

So, I’ve taken my key learnings, and shared them below in hopes that you can start to increase your online presence and make a greater impact online:

  • 1) Be a Conversation Starter

Businesses are quick to forget that social media is about being social.

Don't just post your video and walk away. Take the time to respond to comments, ask questions, and encourage discussions. When you actively engage with your audience, it shows that you care about their opinions, and this, in turn, encourages more interactions.

  • 2) Grab Their Attention

The first few seconds of your video are crucial.

Hook your audience with something attention-grabbing, whether it's a surprising fact, a relatable story, or an intriguing question. This initial hook will determine if viewers will keep watching or scroll past.

  • 3) Less is More

In our fast-scrolling world, attention spans are short.

Keep your videos concise and to the point. Aim for a length of around 1-2 minutes, or less - especially if they’re adverts. Keep these 15-30 seconds long. Remember, you don’t need to say everything in one video! If you have more to say, consider breaking it into shorter segments or creating a series of videos.

  • 4) Connect on a Personal Level

We all love a good story.

Whether it's sharing a personal experience or narrating a captivating tale related to your message, storytelling can create a stronger emotional connection with your viewers, especially when you’re building your personal brand - which has been an increasingly popular trend over the last few years.

  • 5) Make Your Video Accessible

Not everyone can or wants to listen to audio all the time.

By adding captions to your videos, you make them more accessible to a wider audience. It's a simple step that can greatly increase engagement, especially among those who prefer to watch videos on mute or with the sound off.

  • 6) Adapt to Your Audience

Most social media users access their platforms through mobile devices.

That means you must make your videos mobile-friendly. Use vertical or square video formats, and make sure your text and visuals are legible on smaller screens.

  • 7) Be Authentic and Enthusiastic

Audiences are drawn to authenticity.

When you're genuinely passionate about your subject, it shows, and people are more likely to engage with your content. So, be yourself and let your enthusiasm shine through. It sounds cheesy, but it’s true!

  • 8) Maintain Your Presence

Consistency is key on social media.

Regularly posting videos keeps your audience engaged and informed about your updates. Create a content schedule that works for you, and stick to it. It's like a TV show with a new episode every week!

So, are you ready to take your video content to the next level?
